It is indeed an alarming fact that 2 in every 3 women are wearing
the wrong size bra. Sadly, we take more time and care buying
a pair of shoes than a bra, when the damage that can be done
is every bit as bad. You wouldn’t buy a pair of shoes without
trying them on….the same should apply for a bra.
- It is very important
to know and understand that wearing the wrong size bra can
not only be uncomfortable but it also won’t provide adequate
support and this can lead to back, neck or shoulder pain,
especially for women with a larger bust because they have
more weight to support.
- In addition an ill-fitting
bra may damage the delicate breast tissue and may cause skin
chafing or irritation.
Remember well fitting underwear
will also make your outerwear look much better. All
breasts differ in terms of the volume, shape and spacing of
the breasts.
-
Our
breasts change for all sorts of reasons over our lives (puberty,
throughout the menstrual cycle, with weight gain or loss,
with the contraceptive pill, during pregnancy, during menopause
and in old age).
The
breasts lie on the muscles of the chest wall and are attached
to the chest wall by delicate ligaments called the ‘Coopers’
ligaments.
- The Coopers ligaments
stretch with age resulting in breasts sagging.
- Once the Coopers ligaments
stretch, nothing will restore them to their original position
- If adequate support
is not worn, then this will accelerate the sagging process
no matter what age you are.
· NB There
are no muscles in the breast – only fat and milk producing glandular
tissue.
